The Pineal Gland has been called “The Seat of the Soul” by spiritual masters. The phrase was made popular by the French philosopher Rene’ Descartes (1595-1650). Another of his statements endures; that is, “I think, therefore I am”. He contended that this gland was the center at which the Soul/Spirit and body interacted, and where we receive our messages from the Divine. Jesus the Christ also stated in Matthew 6:22 “The light of the body is in the eye; if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light”. According to this, the idea of there being a spiritual eye is no new idea.

However, although commonly attributed to Descartes, the idea that the Pineal Gland was the interfacing organ where the Soul/Spirit of Man gained access and animated the human body is the idea of a Greek physician named Herophilus. He was dissecting corpses and documenting what he observed 300 years before the life of  Jesus the Christ. His specialties were the productive system and the brain. Prior to Herophilus, people believed the generator of human consciousness was the heart. Egyptian mummies had their hearts carefully embalmed and preserved while their brains were removed through their nasal passages and unceremoniously discarded. Herophilus knew that the brain was the controlling center, and he went on to discriminate between the various parts of the brain and assess the different behaviors  associated with them.

When the child is a fetus, it is to say that is when life begins; life begins when the soul decides to enter the body. Herophilus rightly concluded the gland had a major role in human consciousness and was the “gateway to our real self”. Many of his volumes and illustrations did not survive the destruction of the great library located in Alexandria, Egypt where they were stored.

Another possible concern for the immaturity of the gland is exposure to radiation from cell phones (if used constantly).

Unfortunately, the Pineal can become calcified from heavy metals and fluoride. This should then restrict its function of producing melatonin which regulates sleep cycles. Calcification also should inhibit the psychic or spiritual function that the gland may have. Although the gland shows this calcification. it does not seem to diminish the production of melatonin. IN FACT, THE CALCIFICATIN APPEARS TO HAVE NO SIGNIFICANT EFFECT ON THE GLAND ITSELF . . . ONLY ITS SIZE.

However, some other factors have been shown to seriously inhibit Pineal function. This is important because recent discoveries have shown that melatonin is vital for the immune system. Lower levels of melatonin are associated with prostrate and breast cancer which are two major causes of premature death. The gland also regulates blood sugar metabolism. Studies show that night-shift workers seem more likely to develop Type II diabetes than their day-shift counterparts. Seasonal Affect Disorder (SAD) is also linked to deficient levels of melatonin and serotonin.

Meticulous research performed by Dr. Jennifer Luke of England suggests the Pineal is the primary target of fluoride within the human body. The hard tissue contained in the gland (hydroxyapatite crystals) accumulates more fluoride than any other hard tissue in the body . . . even the teeth, which it is supposed to protect. She found that animals treated with fluoride had lower levels of circulating melatonin. This reduced level of melatonin was accompanied by an earlier onset of puberty in the fluoride-created female animals. Deficiency of melatonin is linked with premature development, insomnia, cancer, Alzheimer’s Disease, and mental disorders such as bipolar.

Anatomists, scientists who study the human body, have shown that the human Pineal is most active in youth just before puberty. This would make sense if the gland were somehow in control of the reproductive system, turning on the necessary hormones that constitute adulthood. But after puberty, the Pineal seems to calcify and accumulates what is called “brain sand” . This can be rectified by activating the gland with spiritual meditation or other forms of thought that bring in light to the gland. Also, melatonin created in the gland not only aids in regulating the onset of puberty . . . it also aids in protecting the body from cell damage caused by free radicals.

Free radicals have something to do with causing the forming of unfinished molecules. These unfinished molecules take electrons from other atoms inside a cell. Antioxidants are molecules that can halt this process. By doing this, damage to the cell can be prevented. An individual needs antioxidants to defend against the assault of free radicals. Once formed, these radicals may start a chain reaction like dominoes. Free radicals are oddly formed electrons and are formed when oxygen interacts with certain molecules.

Until the 1990’s, no research had ever been conducted to determine the impact of fluoride on the Pineal. Fluoride is a routinely (and sometimes mandatory) additive to almost all drinking water, allegedly to prevent tooth decay which Dr. Luke, mentioned earlier in this article, has considered incorrect. Its use has always been highly controversial, and research on the side effects is often discouraged (by the United States anyway).

Municipal water in the United States has been treated with a form of fluoride for more than half a century. This treatment may accumulate fluoride in the Pineal. To reverse this, a reverse osmosis or other fluoride water filter, or well or spring water, may be used. Toothpaste with fluoride included can be exchanged for a homemade paste of coconut oil, baking soda, and peppermint or cinnamon oil . . . or one may purchase fluoride-free herbal toothpaste. Citrus fruits, or making a tea from lemon  and honey, also assists in decalcifying. Eastern dried seaweed, such as kelp, or navy beans, tuna, and eggs may also be suggested.

To reduce immune responses like inflammation and calcification throughout the body, pesticides, artificial ingredients, hormones, and other contaminants enter from bad food into the bloodstream and flow directly to the Pineal. Calcification occurs as a protective guard against these harmful chemicals. Changing to organic fruits, vegetables, and animal products may assists in stopping the flow of chemicals into the bloodstream throughout the body . . . thus reducing immune responses like inflammation and calcification.

Boron is a mineral found in food. It is known as an effective fluoride remover and is found naturally in raisins, dates, chick peas, red kidney beans, hazelnuts, walnuts, lentils, and peanut butter. Other foods that cleanse and nourish the Pineal Gland include coconut oil, cilantro, parsley, turmeric, cayenne, and raw apple cider vinegar. An ancient form of sunsoaking, called Sungazing, may also help for a few minutes a day. This method is discussed in the next post.

Dementia disease and premature aging of the human body may be one of the more serious side effects of fluoride. The most serious side effects of all may be damages to the nervous system. Dr. Luke conveyed that fluoride accumulates in the Pineal, which secretes melatonin, more than in any other soft tissue in the body. Secretions from the Pineal join the colloidal structure of the human body. The colloidal system is discussed in the treatise “The Larger Spiritual Order & Universal Scheme of Things-Simplified”.

Fluoride, working together with aluminum, may cause nerve degeneration similar to Alzheimer’s Disease. Aluminum is present in some city water, in toothpaste tubes, in boiled water or by cooking in aluminum containers, drinking beverages from aluminum cans, and it is also in some baking powder. If the water contains silica, the risk of Alzheimer’s Disease may be much reduced. Silica, can also be found in health food stores to bolster an individual’s immune system. Silica also aids in the growth of new hair if it contains Horsetail Extract.

I leave you with the thought that the Pineal Gland handles the transportation of the Soul/Spirit out of the body at the time our lives are ending in Earth just as the Pineal Gland brings the Soul/Spirit into the body at birth in the fetus.

The next blog post shall continue with the ancient ritual of Sungazing as a means of supplementing energy to the Pineal Gland. The ritual is becoming more well-known and is being studied again.

In the meantime, enjoy some Sun.
