CHAKRAS AND CHAKRA ENERGY
The fourth chakra energy center is located in the center of the chest between the nipples and has been known as the heart chakra. This center is said to work with the emotions of compassion, love, and harmony. The thymus gland in the endocrine system shall be explored as an energy center that more likely has the purpose of the fourth chakra. It is located behind the sternum in the heart area. In the fetus and during infancy the gland is large in size, but after prolonged infectious illness, it becomes very small. The thymus gland is responsible for the body’s natural ability to be immune from disease and affects the entire body. It is understandable from this information that clearing and balancing the thymus gland is supportive to a healthy body and the harmonious well-being of an individual. It is probable that if this gland would operate at its peak performance, its contribution to an individual’s best health and harmony would be of great importance.
The fifth chakra energy center location is the throat area located at the base of the neck. In Eastern theological philosophy that area is associated with the creation of communication as well as recognizing a person’s needs (self) as opposed to balancing their wants (ego). It is the area predominately used, along with the Mind, in the breathing procedures when meditating or communicating with spiritual knowledge. Eastern philosophy states it is at this region a person finds their reason for living. The endocrine gland that is affected by meditation energy input is the thyroid gland. This gland secretes colloid, a clear-gel hormone vital to maintaining life and growth. It is clear that this gland communicates, as expressed in Eastern philosophy, with all the vital parts and functions of the body through the colloidal structure in the continuing medium known as the central nervous system of the spinal column.
The sixth chakra energy center is located in the brow area above the eyes. In Eastern philosophy, it is associated with imagination and psychic abilities and enhances the knowledge of love. It is often referred to as the “third eye”. In the endocrine system, this area contains the pituitary gland. The gland is associated with mental activity and the brain; therefore, it coincides with the mental abilities associated with the sixth chakra. The pituitary gland produces, among other hormones, serotonin and melatonin secretions which appear to support the viewpoint that the sixth chakra promotes love and dissolves grief.
The seventh chakra, or crown energy center, is located at the top of the head. Eastern theology states this center receives spiritual energy into the body. It is said to control every aspect of the body and the Mind, and it is associated with total enlightenment, action, and understanding and union with “God”. The endocrine gland that is located in this area is the pineal gland. This gland is the first gland formed in the fetus, and it becomes the brain in the development of the fetus. It is located at the roof of the brain in the adult and can be closely associated with the Mind.
There is also a thought that the pineal gland handles the transportation of the Soul and Spirit out of the body at the time a human life is ending in Earth, and it is sometimes referred to as the “pineal eye” or “third eye”. As knowledge of this gland becomes more understood, the links of the energy centers may become more valuable to Mankind.
To use these centers to the best advantage for physical and emotional health of our bodies, we shall discuss Meditation for Stress Relief in the next posts. The seven universal colors reflected in the rainbow (see the home page of my website http:// www.fay-louisekapec.com) also resonate within the seven energy centers. In the next few posts on Meditation for Body and Soul/Spirit Healing, I shall detail how the awareness of the seven colors can be used to awaken the seven energy centers and raise our conscious awareness by clearing our Self of the dredges of earthly living.
